The Foundation

The oxford cultural collective foundation is linked exclusively to the Oxford School of Hospitality Management at Oxford Brookes University.

The Foundation’s purpose is to provide students with creative and transformative learning experiences focused on food, drink and culture. The activities it supports reflect a shared belief in the value of experiential learning in developing students’ subject knowledge and social and cultural capital, as well as helping them build professional networks that enhance their employability.

The Foundation is funded by philanthropic donations made to the Oxford School of Hospitality Management at Oxford Brookes University.

The specific learning activities supported by the Foundation include:

  • Students’ participation, as volunteers, in the annual FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival.
  • The Bespoke Hotels Volunteering Programme in Transylvania, Romania.
  • An annual ‘Field to Fork’ field trip to Devon focused on exploring the local food system.
  • Subsidised places for students at the Oxford Cultural Collective Lunch Club events.
  • Subsidised places for students at dinner following the annual Ken Hom Lecture.

On his involvement as a volunteer the 2017 FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival, undergraduate student Spencer Brown commented: “What an incredible opportunity it has been to be part of the 2017 Oxford Literary Festival. I have been fortunate to work alongside some legendary figures, who I feel I can now call friends. It has been a vintage year for the festival and an experience that has been life changing for me.”
