As Executive Director of the Ratiu Family Charitable Foundation, Pamela Rațiu actively supports not-for-profit community focused initiatives in Turda, in central Transylvania, Romania. Since joining the Foundation in 2004 she has developed numerous sustainable projects including: the Ion Rațiu Debating Club, a human trafficking awareness campaign, Christmas for Children, and Ion Rațiu Volunteer programme.
She is the founder of Transylvania Fest, an annual celebration of food and culture that supports community development in the Transylvanian region through tourism and trade, fostering pride among local craftsmen and producers and enabling fresh perspectives on traditions and folklore. A strong supporter of local heritage, Pamela works with local administration in the region to ensure craftsmen and producers receive recognition and support for their work. Also, Pamela works with young creatives to build a bridge between younger audiences and traditional dwellers.
She has also created a programme of hospitality training for Turda’s youth through employment and development opportunities in CRD’s sustainability projects – La Papion cultural cafe and Rațiu Guesthouse.
Collaborating with a team of young professionals she opened Free Time Factory, the first community centre in the area, within a landmark building which the Rațiu family owns. The restoration of this facility will continue, enabling her to initiate more projects that are of benefit to the local community.
