Capturing the spirit of Glasgow’s young, diverse food scene, which is enhancing the city’s character and international reputation, Julie Lin and Noby Leong will prepare a dinner that marries the very best Scottish produce with the vibrant flavours of Malaysia.
In discussion before dinner, Julie and Noby will explore the role of chefs and food writers as champions of inclusive culture.

Julie Lin, television presenter and chef, published her first book, Sama Sama, in 2025, to much acclaim. Through her writing and broadcasting, she celebrates her Malaysian and Scottish heritage. Julie previously owned a Michelin-listed restaurant, GaGa, in Glasgow.
Dr Noby Leong, a podcaster and writer originally from Malaysia, now lives in Glasgow. He is the co-host of Satay-Okay!, a food-focused podcast that takes a deep dive into Malaysian history and culture. Noby is a past winner of an OCC Scholarship.
Calum Sloan is a DJ, promoter, producer and radio show host, who heads Glasgow’s long running and nomadic party Lezure. Sloan has been been a staple at venues such as Glasgow’s La Cheetah Club, Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s and Berlin’s Salon zur Wilden Renate.
