Is a new direction now required for hospitality higher education?
EP and the Oxford Cultural Collective will stage an online discussion on 30th September 2020 to explore the future of hospitality education in the UK.
In recent years hospitality education has faced increasing scrutiny. At this event speakers will reflect on current educational practice; explore what is required of universities to meet the needs of stakeholders including students and the international hospitality industry; and consider the implications of recent crises for the focus and delivery of educational programmes.
The event will incorporate two discussions In the first, Chris Sheppardson of EP will be joined by Donald Sloan of OCC and Ruud Reuland, former Head of both Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne and Hotelschool the Hague, to consider a set of principles upon which the future of hospitality education could be built. All those attending this session will be sent an overview document in advance, outlining the principles to be addressed in the discussion.
The second discussion, involving practitioners from education and industry, will explore specific aspects of the educational experience.
This event will help us decide if a radical rethink is required to ensure hospitality education remains fit for purpose in an ever more unpredictable world.
