Ching He Huang’s Culinary Salon dinner – a glorious celebration of the Lunar New Year

Television chef and author Ching-He Huang MBE hosted the most recent dinner in the Culinary Salon series, from the Oxford Cultural Collective and Academy restaurant, Belfast.

Around 100 guests joined Ching on 20th February 2024 for a magical evening, with a menu featuring dishes from her new book, Wok for Less, designed as a celebration of the Lunar New Year and of her Taiwanese heritage.

The dinners, held in partnership with Academy restaurant, featuring many of the UK and Ireland’s best loved chefs and food writers, have become a great success – providing distinctive, immersive learning experiences for Hospitality and Culinary Arts Management students and memorable evenings for loyal guests, whilst also helping to put Academy on the map. Other contributors have included Andi Oliver, Jeremy Lee, Cyrus Todiwala, Felicity Cloake and Conor Spacey.

Ching has fronted 11 TV shows, including the epic four-part BBC series Exploring China: A Culinary Adventure, with Ken Hom, and authored 10 cookery books. She is a regular guest on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen Live and ITV’s Lorraine and This Morning. Her latest book, Wok For Less, was published in January 2024 by Kyle Books.
