Eating, Drinking, Thinking – new masterclass series for food and drink professionals and enthusiasts

Eating, Drinking, Thinking, a new and permanent series of masterclasses from Kings Place and the Oxford Cultural Collective, gives participants access to the UK’s most inspiring food and drink writers, chefs and broadcasters – those who are shaping our culinary landscape.
Presented at Kings Place, one of London’s most impressive cultural venues, the masterclasses are delivered in small groups, ensuring they are personal, enriching and valuable learning experiences.
The first in the series, from writer and campaigner Yasmin Khan, focused on How to Tell Stories Through Food, was attended by writers, content creators, publicists, chefs and heritage managers.
Confirmed contributors include Felicity Cloake, Guardian columnist, travel writer and novellist; Jimi Famurewa, restaurant critic, known for his role as a judge on BBC Masterchef; Julie Lin, chef and broadcaster; and Marc Millon, award-winning food, drink and travel writer. Announcements will be made on a regular basis about forthcoming masterclasses.
From Donald Sloan, Chair of OCC: “This is an exciting collaboration that fulfils our aim of extending opportunities to those building careers in food, drink and hospitality, and to those who simply love learning in this field. Our masterclasses are focused on skills development, as well as food and drink as powerful representations of culture.”
For Kings Place, renowned for its comprehensive programme of musical performances, a move into the gastronomic world is a first. Sam McShane, Artistic Director, commented: “This new partnership between Kings Place and the Oxford Cultural Collective celebrates food and drink as essential cultural forces, connecting stories, skills and communities, adding to the rich programme we offer our audiences.”
Eating, Drinking, Thinking will also feature an annual festival of learning – a weekend of masterclasses, discussions and social events – the first scheduled for October 2026.
