Upper House, Hong Kong, welcomes winner of OCC Award
The Oxford Cultural Collective Award (Thailand), offered in partnership with the Asean Professional Beverage Academy, was established to recognise young employees (under the age of 30) working in the Thai hospitality industry, who display the potential to become effective leaders. The first award was presented to Evelyne Hahang of the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Bangkok, in July 2018.
Evelyne’s award was to undertake a period of experiential professional development that would be of benefit to her career. She chose to travel to Hong Kong in January 2019 to spend time work-shadowing the management team of the exclusive Upper-House hotel, part of the Swire Hotels group. Evelyne gained invaluable insights into the leadership of one of Asia’s most distinctive and acclaimed properties: “I was truly impressed to witness the management style and approach – from how they ensure every employee is business-aware, to the emphasis that is placed on creating unique experiences for all guests.” Evelyne now plans to move to France in August 2019 to undertake a Master of Business Administration.
The Oxford Cultural Collective extends warm thanks to the Upper House team for providing Evelyne with such a valuable learning experience – with special thanks to Marcel Thoma, General Manager, and Kristina Snaith-Lense, Hotel Manager.
